Case Study: How IDOL Academy student Meagan Jean Helped Physical Therapists Master Time Management
Jan 07, 2025As a student at IDOL Academy working towards becoming a professional in instructional design, Meagan Jean identified a key challenge faced by physical therapists: managing time effectively amidst the demands of patient care, administrative tasks, and ongoing professional development. Recognizing the impact of frequent interruptions and unstructured schedules, Meagan was inspired to create a solution that could help physical therapists prioritize their tasks and make the most of their time. This idea led to her project for the IDOL Academy Design Workbook, Section 2, where she developed an eLearning course titled "Mastering the Art of the PT Samurai."
To bring her project to life, Meagan utilized a variety of tools to brainstorm, plan, and develop the course. She started with XMind, a mind mapping tool, to visually lay out the course modules and key concepts. This helped her organize her ideas and ensure that all important aspects were covered. She also used Notion to document her course outlines, track tasks, and store ideas in an organized manner. This allowed her to have all her project materials in one place, making it easy to access and collaborate with others. Google Docs was used to draft and revise the course content, ensuring clarity in the instructions and objectives. Trello was also utilized to manage the project, track milestones, and stay on top of tasks.
Using these tools, Meagan was able to create a workbook that provided a strong foundation for her eLearning course. It helped her define the problem and identify the most relevant time management strategies to address in the course. The workbook also helped her structure the course into manageable modules, ensuring that each part of the content served a clear purpose.
The impact of Meagan's project was significant, both for her and for the physical therapists who would benefit from the course. The design workbook provided clarity and structure for the entire eLearning course, making the development process more manageable and focused. By breaking down the content into actionable modules, Meagan ensured that the course would be relevant and effective for her target audience. The project also allowed her to think critically about the tools and strategies physical therapists already use, such as Notion, and how to build on that existing knowledge.
As a result of her hard work and dedication, Meagan's project has successfully equipped physical therapists with the necessary skills to manage their time more efficiently. The design workbook serves as a valuable resource for the eLearning course, providing a solid foundation and making the project feel achievable and aligned with the learners' goals and challenges.
We're proud to highlight Meagan Jean's achievements as a student in the IDOL Academy. Her project showcases her dedication to addressing real-world problems and her ability to utilize various tools and resources to bring her ideas to life. Congratulations, Meagan, on a successful project that will positively impact the lives of physical therapists. We can't wait to see what you'll achieve next!
