Because the IDOL courses Academyâ„ is built on the principles of LXD (Learner Experience Design), social learning, and deliberate practice. Every asset in a student portfolio goes through each of these four steps.
Learn
It starts with learning about learner experience design and focusing on how to create meaningful training solutions. You then learn how to create learning materials using industry tools.
Create
Learning is not complete without taking action. After you learn about instructional design you'll start creating. Once you've completed the crappy first draft of an asset (job aid, instructional script, video, storyboard, etc) you're ready for the next step of deliberate practice.
Peer Review
You share your draft with the IDOL courses Academyâ„ community. You get kind and supportive feedback from peers and mentors to help you improve that asset. Then you'll implement the feedback from the community of IDOLs and move on to the next step.
Academy Coach Feedback
Submit the peer-reviewed asset to the Academy Coaches to get expert tailored feedback. You can't improve on what you don't know. That's why feedback from elite instructional designers moves you and your skills further quickly. After you implement the coach feedback, upload the asset to your portfolio, and move on to the next asset with step one. This is a cyclical process in deliberate practice that improves both newbie and veteran IDOLâ„ skills!
